Fender duo sonic mods11/8/2023 ![]() While a 25.5 scale designed body will have 7.08 between body/neck joint and saddles, which is very close, but probably too big a difference to make things workĪlso shows that regular 24 inch scale jaguar/mustang/jagstang 22 frets necks are all 17.75 long, with a required neck joint/saddles distance of 6.25, which is shorter than jagmaster, CV duo sonic etc. On the jagmaster body, the neck gives a 24.069 scale, and it has a distance of 6.819 from the body/neck joint to the bridge saddles. I compared the measurement with my CV duo sonic and it matches.įor exemple it explains why the Jagmaster II 21 frets neck is considered a conversion neck : it almost is, but only almost. It shows measurements of a whole bunch of fender/squier shortscale necks, and compare them (see the table on the bottom of the pdf) I haven't had the time to do my own measurement on my jagstang, but I have found on the squier talk forum a very useful resource : The offset series parts are interchangeable so the duo body should accept any normal 24" neck be it Jaguar, Bronco, Mustang or otherwise.Ī lot of guitars run mismatched bridge and fretboard radii, plus the Duo-Sonic has saddles that can be height adjusted. If they are the same (give or take a few mm) you'd know if they are swappable. If I were you I'd take a ruler and measure the distance between the neck heel and bridge on your CV and the distance between your Jagstang neck and bridge. There's a lot of debate about the CV neck being a conversion neck. Or Duo-Sonics are definitely supposed to have only Duo-Sonic necks ?Īlso, would it be a problem to put a 7.25 radius neck on a 9 -or more- radius designed guitar ? I'm thinking Fender Duo Sonic body, and the closest neck I could find to a Jagstang one. I know I can't put a regular 24 inch scale neck on a Squier Duo Sonic, cause the Duo is designed for it's own "conversion-ish" neck with different fret spacing.ĭoes anyone know if the new Fender Duo Sonic HS and SS (which are 24" scale/22 frets) could receive a Mustang/Jaguar/Jagstang 22 frets neck ? The Duo-Sonic shape is my favourite ever, but the Jagstang neck is my favourite ever : very narrow nut, and a 7.5 radius. I've got a Squier CV Duo-Sonic that I love, and also a Fender Jagstang (2000 reissue). It made me realize that I am no longer interested in any other guitars.I'm a new poster, looking for some infos I didn't find on the forum already. I went to a guitar shop a while back and played a bunch of guitars. Great sustain too.īuilding these was a satisfying experience. This guitar actually scratches my tele itch just fine, twangy and bright in a good way. Put simple, standard controls on the front and managed to get a tele style jack in the side of the guitar (I dislike jacks on the front of the guitar). ![]() The Mustang is swamp ash with strat style body contours. I like the sound of this guitar more than the old Strat I've had for 40 years. The Strat is 7/8 size chambered alder and was further hollowed out by me. I don't believe light guitars necessarily sound better or worse than heavier guitars. The Strat weights 6.5 lbs and the Mustang is 6.0 lbs. ![]() I can finally play a guitar again without wearing a wrist brace. Used USACG necks on both with SS frets and my preferred neck shape which I honed in further by playing and sanding on the neck for a couple of weeks. For both I had to wait about a year or so for a 3.0 lb or less body to show up on the Gallery. ![]() I have shown the pictures below several times on TGP, sorry, boring. I am really a Strat guy so I made a Strat style 1st and liked it so much that I made a hardtail Mustang style a year later. Rosewood fretboard, original ferrules and tree. However, the neck is circa 1961-62 and stock for 1959-64 period. First, some clown wrote a date on it at some point. This one is in great functional shape with some mods. The hardtail Mustangs and Duosonics I tried out were fun and comfortable but, since I since I demand body contours and am an unreasonably picky guy, I decided to go the Partscaster route. Up for sale is a 1961-62 Fender Duo Sonic guitar neck. I also have finger and wrist joint problems and I found that the Fender style 24" scale guitars were the most comfortable for me. I have also come to love 24" scale guitars.
